Settle Falconry - About Us

We are situated in the tiny hamlet of Feizor, consisting of a handful of stone cottages, two farms and lies four miles from the market town of Settle. It’s a beautiful part of the North Yorkshire Dales. We are only a short drive from the stunning Lake District to the north and border with Lancashire and West Yorkshire to the south, so a visit from nearby counties is no problem! Elaine’s Farmhouse Tearoom is the perfect place to meet our guests and this lends itself as a great starting point for our falconry experiences, the food is amazing too! From here it offers many picturesque walks through limestone bridle paths and woodland, just what we need to experience the birds at their best.

David Edwards grew up on his family farm in Lancashire and moved to live in the Yorkshire Dales in 2004. He is passionate about birds of prey having had a keen interest from a very early age and has kept them for nearly 20 years. From 2001 David spent three years studying and completing the Zoo Animal Management course. In 2009 he was promoted to lead Falconer at a Yorkshire birds of prey centre until 2015, when we decided to begin Settle Falconry. He also has a keen interest in breeding birds of prey and has successfully captive bred a number of Hawks and Owls, as well as contributing towards the critically endangered Lugger Falcon population.

Kieren Bathers has lived in the Yorkshire Dales all of his life and has spent many years in the outdoors. He has a very keen interest in Falconry, Fishing and Shooting. In 2009 Kieren started working at a local birds of prey centre. There he was responsible for overseeing and conducting bird handling experiences as well as hatching and rearing baby falcons for the captive breeding program. From there he built on his knowledge of Falconry and bird of prey, until founding Settle Falconry in 2015.
